The concept the director had come up with for the show was that of a post-apocalyptic world where fires were rampant. I started thinking about what kind of character and class-defining makeup would exist in this setting.

For the royal characters, I gave them accents of gold leaf cut into geometric shapes and stuck to their faces, except for Iphigenia who because she was younger and I wanted her to be distinct from the others was given a glitter look instead.

The thought behind this design choice was in a world of smoke and fire metallic accents would stand out by reflecting the light of the fires.
